The final event of the "Business Integrity Month 2023"

It is traditional initiative launched by the Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC). A series of events dedicated to integrity business conduct issues in wartime conditions will be held over the next month.

The topic of the last event (there were six in total) was "From Lugano to London: A vision of the business integrity of the reconstruction of Ukraine" and was held on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023, which takes place on June 21-22 in London.

Among the speakers of the event were:

  • Ireneusz Derek, CEO of Plastics-Ukraine
  • Mykhailo Shelemba, CEO of Datagroup / Volya Cable
  • Danylo Hloba, Deputy Head of Legal Affairs at YouControl
  • Polina Lysenko, Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU)
  • Oleksii Sobolev, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation
  • Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories Development and Infrastructure of Ukraine

All the speakers expressed a common view regarding the presence of a significant number of investors at the current stage and predicted an increase in their numbers in the near future. However, they also pointed out that investors are hesitating to invest in Ukraine due to corruption and lack of transparency.

Polina Lysenko confirmed that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is actively working on legislative initiatives and taking significant steps to ensure transparency of the system, including active measures to detect illegal actions. Presentations on this issue will be made at the exhibition in London.

Oleksiy Sobolev shared information that the State Digital Restoration Ecosystem for Accountable Management called DREAM will be presented in London. The platform will provide a single digital pipeline for all reconstruction projects. Communities will have the opportunity to independently create projects and present them to the international community to attract funding for their implementation. At the same time, DREAM will ensure the highest standards of integrity, accountability, efficiency and transparency in Ukraine's Recovery to build trust between the government, businesses, citizens, and financial institutions.

First of all, business representatives shared their cases. Mykhailo Shelemba shared the experience of cooperation between Volia-Cable and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which resulted in the company obtaining funding and expanding its ability to quickly restore Internet networks in the de-occupied territories.

Danylo Hloba from YouControl confirmed that the platform provides access to data specifically for the purpose of verifying counterparties, and the company strives to ensure that the information received by customers is up-to-date.

We look forward to further information from the conference in London, where they promise to share many new initiatives that will help in Ukraine's post-war recovery.
